CNN Hero of the Year, Robin Lim Inspires Our Students

We Are All Heroes

Robin Lim’s passion is in making the world a better place. As a midwife and founder of The Bumi Sehat (Healthy Mother Earth Foundation) health clinics, she says, “We can build world peace one mother, one baby at a time.” Robin addressed the Maharishi School students on November 14, and told them, “We started with one mother at a time in my own home, and now we have this amazing project. "

“My life purpose really is love,” she said, “If I’m not living for love every minute of every day, what is the point?” With great love and care, Robin works in Indonesia and the Philippines, receiving babies into the world and educating midwives, doctors, and nurses. Founded in 2003, Robin’s clinics offer free prenatal care, birthing services, and medical aid to the poor and needy. This year the clinics served 65,000 people. As a result of her loving work, Robin was voted CNN’s “Hero of the Year” in 2011, and was awarded with the building of a new solar powered clinic.

“We are all heroes,” she told the students. “You may wonder, how do I find the hero in me? I’ll tell you that the dreams and passion and the things you care about are the dreams that you can make come true. Think about your dream. That dream was planted before you were even a thought. Your soul already knew what you wanted to accomplish.”

“At our clinics, we set our intention to the highest good every day," she continued. "Believe in yourself. Believe in your friends. Believe in your teachers. They believe in you. And use your creative intelligence. It is so powerful. You are in the most spiritually alive time of your lives. Most teenagers don’t realize this. You are waking up. Your souls say 'I am connected.' This is the time to follow your dream. Your dream really loves you. Hold your dream tight, hold it in your heart and know that the hero is already inside, already working.”

She recognized students in the audience at whose births she had assisted. “For many of you in this room, I know your miraculous stories. I was there at your birth,” she told them. “Talk to your parents and ask them about the story of your birth. Many had dreams before you were made.”

Robin left the students with one last inspiring message, “Your hands hold the future. Now set your intention for the highest good and hold on to your dreams and you will all be the heroes you are meant to be.”
