Eight Teams Advance to State Speech Competition

Eight out of nine Maharishi School Teams were selected to advance to the next level of the Iowa High School Speech Competition. The students performed at the district competition Saturday, January 22 at Mediapolis High School. They will continue to the state competition in Cedar Rapids on February 5. The top performers at the state competition will continue to the All-State Festival in Ames on February 19.

Maharishi School students performed in the following categories: Group and Solo Mime, Group Improvisation, One-Act Play, and Musical Theater. The students were coached by alumnus, Brendan Thomas and Tatiani Ticciati, with special help from Matt Speers.

The students had a great time, both performing and watching the performances from other schools. The event had a lively, friendly atmosphere, and students from different schools were seen encouraging and complimenting each other.

The community will have the opportunity to enjoy these fabulous performances at Spayde Theater, March 4-6 and 11-12
