One family at Maharishi School stands out as performing very well at Destination ImagiNation, a creative problem-solving competition. The three Stakland children have gone to Global Finals for 10 consecutive years. They have also placed numerous times in the top 10.
"The Stakland family has been participating in DI since Jordan (left) was in 4th grade, Serena was in 7th grade, and Ryan was in 5th grade” says mother Maricela (center, next to the family's father, Ron).
This photo of the Stakland children was taken in 2005. Serena (1st place-secondary level), Jordan (1st place-middle level) and Ryan (2nd place-elementary level) Stakland pose with Mark Headlee, the teacher who brought the DI program to Maharishi School.
“The highlight of my high school years was undoubtedly in Destination ImagiNation. It gave me confidence and independence. I bonded with my team mates through unforgettable experiences,” said Serena Stakland.
“Destination ImagiNation affected all areas of my life," said Jordan Stakland. "It helped to make clear what was important to me and what I wanted to do in my life.”
The youngest Stakland, Ryan, is currently a senior at Maharishi School and is going on to Destination ImagiNation Global Finals this spring. Read about Ryan's team here.
