Open House April 8 For Toddler, Preschool and Kindergarten Programs

Registration at Maharishi School is now open for the 2011-12 school year. On Friday, April 8 2011 from 9:30-11:45 am, an Open House will be held for children ready to enter Preschool and Kindergarten. Parents new to Maharishi School who attend the Open House and register prior to May 15 will receive a $50 credit towards tuition.

The following programs will be offered:

  • Kindergarten—if your child turns 5-years-old by September 15
  • Pre-kindergarten—if your child turns 4-years-old by September 15
  • Preschool—if your child turns 2 or 3-years-old by September 15
  • Infant/Toddler—children between the ages of 3 months and 2-years-old by September 15

New Toddler Program Being Considered

As more young families are moving to Fairfield, working or student parents are asking for a well-designed program for their youngest children. Maharishi School is considering offering an infant/toddler program, which would accept children from 3 months to 2-years-old. To offer this very specialized program, we need your input. If you are interested, we need to know now! Please plan to attend our Open House or contact Laura Bordow at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

With over 25 years of experience in educating young children, Maharishi’s knowledge of Consciousness-Based education continues to thrive in our early childhood environment. The Science of Creative Intelligence (SCI), including daily practice of the Maharishi Word of Wisdom technique for children 4-years-old and up, is integrated into all areas of the young child’s daily activities. The goal of integrating SCI into the curriculum is to enliven the child’s appreciation to the wonder of life and awaken all the five senses.

The new Nature Explore Classroom, certified by the Arbor Day Foundation is an important addition to our early childhood curriculum, as opportunities are provided to connect children to nature on a daily basis. Outdoor learning experiences nourish the child and create a foundation for deep appreciation of the world we live in. This spring, the children will be involved in adding an abundance of trees, shrubs, and edible plantings to the classroom, funded through newly acquired grants from the Arbor Day Foundation and Trees Forever. In addition, a bird habitat and bird blind will be built, to draw more wildlife to the area.

Interested parents and children are invited to spend the morning in either the preschool or kindergarten classrooms on Friday, April 8. Visiting children are welcome to join the group activities and weather permitting, spend time in our Nature Explore Classroom. During the morning, parents are invited to talk with Program Director, Laura Bordow and Resource Specialist, Wendie Nelson.
