By winning the sub-state competition at home on Saturday, the Pioneers boys’ tennis team qualified for the Class 1A final four for the 8th consecutive season--tying a state record held by Dubuque Wahlert; and they’ve reached the final four for the 15th time--a new all-time state record.
The Pioneers 25-season cumulative dual match record: 240-65.
The Pioneers ripped Chariton 5-0, taking the top 2 singles with Sam Arsanjani and Thomas Weiss plus 4 through 6 with Raphael Gelfand, Solaris Nite and Surya Sawhney. Maharishi School then defeated Pella 5-1 in the afternoon wrapping it up with Arsanjani, Weiss, Sam Stickels, Gelfand and NIte all winning in singles.
