NEW LONDON — Maharishi School senior Paul DeAngelis extended his season with a fourth-place individual finish at the Class 1A sectional meet in New London Friday.
DeAngelis shot an 82 on Deerwood Country Club’s golf course and will continue his season at the district tournament scheduled Thursday at Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Iowa City.
“As a senior, he is peaking at just the right time for this season and for his Pioneer career,” said Pioneer coach Ed Hipp.
As a team, the Pioneers finished fourth out of eight squads with a score of 366. Host New London was sectional champion at 325, and Winfield-Mount Union (347) and Holy Trinity (353) also qualified for the district tournament.
Other scores for the Pioneer golfers included Mickey DeAngelis (88), Prasad Monk (98), Tomas Bousquet (98), Davin Titus (106) and Toby James (109).
“Congratulations to the whole team for continuing to improve throughout the season,” said Hipp. “In addition to Paul’s excellent round, we also had a breakthrough round for Tomas. The 52 he shot on the front nine was his low career score.”
