Maharishi School is a college preparatory day and boarding school in Fairfield, Iowa. One of the top boarding schools in the Midwest, Maharishi School offers top-notch academics, a diverse and inclusive student body, a wide variety of extracurricular activities, and a holistic-health curriculum that includes yoga, meditation, and organic food.Pioneer doubles duo, Daniel Zhu and Devan Burke, rolled through the six team field (Boone, Pella, Grinnell, Albia, Oskaloosa, Maharishi School) to capture gold medals in the Pella Invitational today. The pair defeated Pella, Grinnell, and Albia along the way.

“Devan and Daniel are bright guys. They learn fast. They’re beating good teams by playing smart tennis,” said Coach Briggs. “Neither guy plays power tennis, but they scramble well, have quick hands at net, and aren’t afraid to amp up their forehands on high balls. Devan showed his quickness when he tracked down a nearly unreachable ball on an adjacent court. Pulling off the shot of tournament, he improvised a sharply angled forehand winner that brought everyone onto their feet.”

“We were without Kai Vessey today. Kai's one of the top players in the state, but our boys played well,” said Briggs.

Several teams headed home to to get ready for prom before the singles final was played. Consequently, team results won’t be posted until later.
