NEW LONDON — Maharishi School avenged an early season loss to New London with its first victory of the season, topping the Tigers 44-33 in SEISC south action Friday. Suraj Rao led the Pioneers with 12 points, Rashan Anderson had nine and Toby James scored eight.
The Pioneers ran out to a 13-2 lead after one quarter and built a 17-4 advantage midway through the second period. The Tigers never grabbed a lead, though they narrowed the deficit to 39-31 with a minute remaining in the contest.
Also for the Pioneers, Surya Sawhney scored six points and pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds. Dillon Evertsen and Anderson helped out on the glass with five rebounds each, and Thomas Weiss dished out eight assists.
