2005/2006 Achievements in the Arts

  • Violinist Angali Krystofiak is selected to perform in the All-State Orchestra. Fellow Violinist, LeeAnne Blackmore, is selected to be an alternate.
  • LeeAnne Blackmore wins 3rd place in the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra's Marilyn Minford McCoid Young Artist Competition.
  • Out of nine Destination ImagiNation teams, eight compete at the State competition and come home with five 1st place medals and two 2nd place medals.
  • Iowa High School Speech Association Musical Theater entry, "Just So," comes in first at the Superconference Competition.
  • Middle and Upper School Photography students win awards at the annual PIEA International Photography Competition. Middle School winners: Sophie Blitz wins 1st place for "Phoebe," Holly Armstrong wins 3rd place for "Shadows," and Satya Griggs receives an Honorable Mention for "Looking at You." Upper School winners: Anjali Krystofiak wins 2nd place for "Bubble Lips" and Camille Morehead receives an Honorable Mention for "Ice Cream Party."
  • At this year's competition sponsored by the Association of Texas Photography Instructors students Ella Hall, Camille Morehead and David Boyle come away with a 3rd place award and two Honorable Mentions.
  • Photography students David Fulcher, Lane Weaver, Molly Brooks and Toby Briggs win awards at the National Texas A&M; Annual High School Shoot-Out.
  • Art and Photography students win awards at the Southeast Iowa Superconference Competition in the areas of Photography, Art Prints, Ceramics, Pastels, Mixed Media and the Judges Category.
