Lila Cutter, Maharishi School Junior, has won first place, high school category, in the Iowa Poetry Association contest. Cutter’s submission, "Magic," will be published in Lyrical Iowa 2010, the 65th annual anthology of the Iowa Poetry Association. Matthew Fleshman Named National Merit Scholar

Congratulations to Matthew Fleshman, winner of the National Merit St. Olaf College Scholarship! Fleshman entered the 2010 National Merit Scholarship competition, with more than 1.5 million other juniors nation-wide, when he took the 2008 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Less than 1% of those applicants were named semifinalists on a state representational basis. Pearl Sawhney and Minna Mohammadi, sophomores, swept the top prizes at the Iowa State Science Fair (EISEF) on March 21, the State Science and Technology Fair of Iowa (SSTFI) on March 26th and 27th, the Iowa Junior Academy of Science (IJAS) on April 16, and have placed in the top 30 presenters at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in San Jose, CA, May 14. Maharishi School Junior, Atreya Dey, Recipient of Herbert Hoover Award

Atreya Dey, a Maharishi School junior, has been selected as one of 15 Herbert Hoover Award Recipients and a member of the twelfth class of Hoover Uncommon Students. Dey submitted a proposal for a scientific research project on water pollution. He will be working under Dr. S. Mallapragada, the Stanley Chair at Iowa State University, over the summer.
