Sky Nite named National Merit Commended Scholar

Maharishi School senior Sky Nite, son of Randy and Noel Nite, has been named a commended student in the 2011 National Merit Scholarship Program.

A letter of commendation from the national Merit Scholarship Corporation wil be presented to Nite.

About five percent of students who take the PSAT/NMSQT® tests receive Letters of Commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise. Although Commended Students do not continue in the competition for National Merit® Scholarships, some of these students do become candidates for Special Scholarships sponsored by corporations and businesses.

“Recognition of high-achieving students is essential to advancing educational excellence in our nation,” commented a spokesperson for NMSC. “As demonstrated by their outstanding performance in our highly competitive program, the young men and women named commended students represent some of the most academically talented students in our country. We sincerely hope this recognition will enhance their educational opportunities and encourage them in their pursuit of academic success.”
