The athletic program at Maharishi School is unique in that it is based on the Maharishi Vedic Approach to Health curriculum, which teaches, trains, and conditions students without stress and strain, thereby developing creativity, exhilaration, and vitality. Joy and playfulness are emphasized in all activities of the Lower School Physical Education classes. In a fun atmosphere of structured play, students build skills, strength, flexibility, and aerobic fitness, and learn to be good sports through partner and team games.
The Boys' Lower School Enrichment Sports Program gives the students a wonderful opportunity to learn the sports of soccer, basketball, tennis, golf and track at a young age in a nurturing and positive atmosphere. Soccer is the fall interscholastic sport for boys beginning in the 7th grade, with basketball season in the winter; and tennis, golf, and track season in the spring. At our school, the 7th and 8th graders are on these competitive teams as a part of their P.E. curriculum. We have seen that students who participate in our Enrichment Sports program while in Lower School have the skills and confidence needed to compete successfully in the Middle and Upper Schools. No experience is necessary and we welcome students of all skill levels.
