Achievements in Sports

In just a few years of competition, Maharishi School has established a high degree of excellence in interscholastic athletics. Maharishi School students compete in basketball, cross-country, golf, soccer, tennis, track, and volleyball. Their latest achievements include the following:

  • School basketball team achieves outstanding season.
The Maharishi School boys basketball team has concluded a thrilling season that saw them emerge as conference champions and also win the district championship. They ended their regular season of play with a record of 23-2 and ranked fifth in the state in Class 2A. They maintained a perfect 12-0 record in Southeast Iowa Superconference play. They then won three games in post-season play, culminating in a district championship win over Mid-Prairie. The game was played before a sellout crowd of 2,100 in the Fairfield High School gym. The team nearly made it to the elite state tournament, but even in losing (to the eventual state champion), the team showed its true colors. As one fan wrote in a letter to the Fairfield newspaper, "The game was without exception the finest display of sportsmanship by a non-winning side that I have ever witnessed."
