Pioneers Coast to Victory over Pekin

February 17, 2001.The varsity boys team ran away from Pekin in the first half and coasted to an 88-57 victory last night in Packwood. The Pioneers opened the game with a 13-1 lead and increased it to 43-15 at half time. The win concluded a 20-1 regular season for the boys as they head into tournament play next week. They also won their first outright SEI Superconference West Division championship, going 12-0 in division play.

Zach Silverman led all scorers with 28 points, raising his scoring average for the season to over 20 points per game. Zach also contributed a game-high 15 rebounds. Ben Stone added 20 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 steals. Michael Hauptman scored 10 of the Pioneers’ first 19 points, and Danny Duszynski starred with 9 points, 11 assists, and 5 steals.
