Maharishi School (1-0) defeated Wapello 57 - 49 in the first round of the SEI Superconference Tournament. The Pioneers will now face Burlington Notre Dame in the second game for the championship at Burlington on Saturday night. The score was tied at 9 at the end of the first quarter and from there the Pioneers took the lead and maintained it for the rest of the game. Michael Hauptman was the leading scorer with 19 points which include 3-3 pointers. John Armstrong and Will Kern had 9 each and Lucas Carter added 8 points. In the last two minutes of the game the pioneers hit crucial foul shots to maintain their lead. Carter went 4 for 4, Armstrong 2 for 2 and Hauptman went 4 for 5 to seal the victory.
