Maharishi School defeats Burlington Notre Dame in a thiller 54-51

Saturday evening (12/6/03) Maharishi School had some last minute heroics and beat a stubborn Notre Dame team by three points.

The pioneers went into the 4th quarter with a lead but were in foul trouble and Notre Dame was able to chip away at the lead as they connected on a number of foul shots. The score was tied at 47 with two minutes to play when Notre Dame hit a couple of foul shots to go up 49-47. With time running out and both teams unable to score on a couple of opportunities the pioneers eventually managed to tie the score on a Will Carlisle jump shot.

Then with only a few seconds to play, after forcing a Notre Dame turn over, and the score tied at 51, Noah Loin fought for a rebound under the basket and managed to bank in his shot as he was fouled. He made the foul shot and Notre Dame only had 3.8 seconds to try a miracle play. However Woody Orne made the steal on the long pass and the Pioneers improved their record to 2-0

Next game is Tuesday at Aquinas.

Pioneers take a time out with 15 seconds left
