Ims defeats Maharishi School 76-60
Maharishi School (3-4), (conference record 1-2,) played a talented team this evening from Iowa Mennonite (6-1). Maharishi school played them even for most of the first half but were unable to stay with IMS in the second half. Twice in the first half IMS opened up a 7 point lead but the Pioneers were able each time to close the gap. In the third quarter however, IMS again opened a 7 point lead and this time they stretched it to as much as 12 and the Pioneers were unable to get back close enough to make a good run.
There were some good positives for the Pioneers in this game. They showed a good inprovement in their outside shooting using the 3-point shot a number of times to keep the game close. The Pioneers showed good balanced scoring with three players in double digits and both point guards made some key baskets.
Noah Loin played a very tough game and was the Pioneers leading scorer with 17 points, followed by Will Carlisle with 14 and Woody Orne who was quiet in the first half but finished stong with 12 points. Rudney and Mullenneaux both had 5, Armstrong 4 and Carter 3 points. The leading scorer for IMS was Yoder who started the game with a fury and scored 20 by mid way through the 2nd quarter. The Pioneers were able to adjust and kept him off the scoreboard for most of the game after that point, but other players took up the slack.
Next game for the Pioneers is Friday night at home against division rival
Pekin at the field house. The Fresh/Soph team will play first at 6:30pm.
