Maharishi School Girls' Basketball Team (10-5) (6-3) won another Western
Conference match by defeating WACO 46 - 19. The Pionner defense was again
intense holding Waco to 1 basket in the first quarter, 2 baskets in the 2nd
& 3rd quarters and only allowed 3 in the the 4th! The Pioneers hustled for
12 steals and controlled the boards om both end of the floor grabbing 31.
After Waco made 2 free throws to the cut the lead to 6-4. The Pioneers went
ona 8-o run to finish the quarter leading 14-4. Shooting 41% in the first
half, the Pioneers had control of the game by halftime, leading 28-9.
Taylor Ross lead all scorers with 16 points. Ami Freeberg went 3 for 4
in the first half and finished with 8 points and Alexandria Kurzen powered
in 8 from the inside. The 31 rebounds were pulled down by Amellia Schult
with 8, Divindy Grant & Kurzen each with 6. Grant & Grace Boyle each step
in for 3 steals each and Ross had 5 steals and 5 assists.
The Pioneers next play on Tuesday at home against Cardinal Stritch. The
game will start at 7:00 pm
