Sarah Vigmostad, Science/Medicine (1997)

Dr. Sarah C. Vigmostad earned a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering (2007), an M.S. in Biomedical Engineering (2003), and in 2001 a Bachelor of Science degree in the same area from the University of Iowa. She is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Iowa, where she has taught since 2008, and has received numerous awards and honors. In 2014 Dr. Vigmostad received the James L. Murray Award for “demonstrating outstanding rapport with students and creating an exemplary classroom atmosphere.” For these reasons she was asked to offer a classroom demonstration to Governor Branstad and Lt. Governor Reynolds, and is now regularly asked to give Flipping the Classroom workshops and demonstrations on her teaching methods. She is also active in scientific and medical research in the area of computational biomechanics and has published in professional journals and books. http://www.iihr.uiowa.edu/svigmostad/
