Maharishi Vedic City

Maharishi Vedic City is the first new city in the world to bring to its citizens Vedic principles of life and living in accord with Natural Law. It is the first new city incorporated in Iowa in 19 years.

Located a few miles north of Maharishi University of Management and Maharishi School campus, Maharishi Vedic City has new housing and city layout designed according to the health and good fortune-promoting principles of Maharishi Sthapatya VedaSM design. Each building faces east and has a central silent space called a Brahmasthan and a golden roof ornament called a kalash. The whole city is planned to promote health, happiness, and a high quality of life for everyone who lives there.

Because of its uniqueness, Maharishi Vedic City is attracting much media attention and is a tourist attraction with regular tours conducted around the city. Maharishi Vedic City is featured in AAA Living magazine July/August 2005 Iowa Shangri-la and the American Airlines flight magazine July 2005 Home and Peace.

Educational institutions—Maharishi Vedic University and schools—in the city are planned incorporating Consciousness-Based education, which brings the highest ideals of education to school and college age students.

The city also promotes Vedic organic agriculture for the health and well-being of its citizens, and has banned the sale of non-organic products in the city. The city’s organic greenhouses provide organic produce both to residents and all over the Midwest. Read article about organic greenhouses.

The Raj, a luxury health spa resort and restaurant, offers rejuvenation therapies and treatments, as well as prevention-oriented health care through Maharishi Ayur Veda®.

Other Vedic and state-of-the-art technologies for energy efficiency and sustainability are planned into all aspects of the city’s development. It is a model town of the highest principles and quality of life for its residents.
