"It was a very fulfilling match for us, and we looked at it as a good practice before districts," said Pioneers coach Mary Carter. "I didn't really care if we won or lost because we needed the work."

JoyJoy Small once again asserted herself for the Pioneers, notching 26 kills, 10 blocks and three digs from the middle hitter position. Anna Shook added eight kills and 13 digs, while Jennie Hirsch had seven kills and 15 assists. Hirsch was 10-for-10 on serves and had a team-leading 22 digs. Lauren Schill added 12 assists and Jennifer Lamothe was 16-for-19 serving with four aces at critical times. Melodia Morales contributed six digs off the bench for the
Pioneers.

"We needed to make some changes, because a lot of people were running out of steam against Pekin," Carter said. "We had 10 girls contribute to our win."
