Parents’ Memo
April 21, 2006

The Parents’ Memo is our Lower School newsletter for the parents of the students. This Memo comes out each week with the news of the past week as well as future events and items of interest for the parents.

“Ved is the reality of the Unified Field, where consciousness is in its self-referral state. In that self-referral state of consciousness, different activities come out as a result of the self-interaction of pure                     consciousness.”—Maharishi

Dear Parents,

It was wonderful to see so many of you at our Parent/Teacher Conferences last Thursday and Friday. It’s amazing to watch our children develop, as they progress from one stage to the next so quickly. Conferences offer the opportunity to assess the student’s growth, and to predict further growth over the next semester. As always, teachers are available for further discussion, if necessary. Just leave your name with the office.

This Sunday, our School will host a 12-member team from the Independent School Association of the Central States (ISACS) for our seven year accreditation visit. The team will be chaired by an experienced school administrator, and visiting team members will be composed of private school teachers and administrators competent to assess various aspects of the School.

Several weeks ago, all administration, faculty, staff and parents at Maharishi School completed a 115-page Self Study. Included in this comprehensive document were 25 report areas, including: Purpose, Philosophy and Goals; Marketing and Expansion; Curriculum; Art and Music; SCI; Sanskrit; Personnel; Governance and Administration; Physical Plant; etc. Each report contained five components: overview, strengths, challenges, plans and priorities, and addenda.

This format was an excellent way to assess our current status, as well as to plan for the future growth of our School. A few weeks ago, this Self Study report, along with several other items of information, was sent to all visiting team members, so they had knowledge of our School prior to their arrival.

Sunday afternoon a welcome reception will be held which all school personnel will attend. Following the reception, the team will have dinner at a School Board member's home. They will then meet Sunday evening at their hotel to begin working as a team, planning a busy schedule for the following two days.

Team members will visit every classroom and spend time talking to every School employee. They will have separate meetings with the School Board and the Parents Association.

Throughout the accreditation visit, the School will be closely monitored for its adherence to two fundamental standards:
1. Full and accurate DISCLOSURE of its mission, philosophy, program, qualifications of its professional staff, procedures, and services, and
2. CONGRUENCE between the School's stated mission and its actual program and services.

At the end of the visit, the visiting team will write a report, based upon findings from the visitation and a comparison of these with the Self-Study. If you are in the building between April 23-25, feel free to introduce yourself to the team members. They are eager to meet all members of our School community.

The Maharishi School Greenhouse is overflowing with fresh greens! The produce is available in front of the School on Tuesday afternoons from 3:00-4:00 p.m. In addition, brocolli, kale, chard, brocolli raab, tomato, and basil seedlings are also available. They can be purchased on Tuesday afternoons in front of the School, or directly from the Greenhouse  any afternoon.

Friday, May 5, our Spring Fundraiser, “Celebrating Maharishi Yagya Performances,” will be held in the Henry Ogden Clark Auditorium.

There is only one week left  before the Maharishi Yagya performances begin on Saturday, April 29. A Maharishi Yagya performance works on the most powerful levels of consciousness to remove obstacles and enliven those laws of nature that support us.

The Yagyas requested include ones for  wealth, perfect health, enlightenment, and to increase the numbers in our community. There will be five Yagyas recommended.

One hundred dollars includes you in the Yagyas that will take place from April 29th to May 5th. His Excellency Dr. Bevan Morris was the first to donate! You will  have the opportunity to write a note to Maharishi and attach a photo of yourself. These will be put in a book and sent at the conclusion of the Yagyas.

This rare opportunity will bring a powerful wave of coherence to you and the entire community, and will also be a great time to be in the Golden Domes to maximize the benefits from this historic week.

On Friday, May 5, we will celebrate  with an evening of  great entertainment. Beginning at 6:00 p.m., the Lower School students will host a fun-filled Carnival, with games and prizes for everyone.

At 6:30 p.m., Destination ImagiNation familes will host a delicious, for-purchase,  gourmet dinner.

Promptly at 7:40 p.m.,  everyone will be invited into Clark Auditorium for a night of cake tasting and wonderful entertainment hosted by the delightful Dick DeAngelis.

It is still not too late to purchase tickets to participate in the Yagyas. If you wish to see the brochure online, go to “Spring Fundraiser”.

You may also pay online at “donations on line”.
