“It is this tender bond of love (between parent and child) that develops into all family and social relationships, that maintains a family, a society, a nation and a world." ~Maharishi, Mahesh Yogi on the Bhagavad–Gita: A New Translation and Commentary, Chapters 1-6, 1:25

Dear Parents,

DATE CHANGE FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL PARENTS’ NIGHT

Please note that instead of having a combined Parents Night for Middle and Upper Schools, we will have two separate evenings.

The Upper School Parents Night will remain as scheduled, on Wednesday, September 6. The Middle School Parents Night has been moved to Thursday, September 7. Both meetings will begin at 7:45 p.m.

The evenings begin in the Henry Ogden Clark Auditorium, where general points that apply to the particular level of the School are covered. Then parents go from classroom to classroom, following the students’ schedule. Each teacher briefly explains the curriculum and his/her expectations for that class.

NO SCHOOL MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 4

As per the School Calendar, there will be no school on Labor Day, Monday, September 4.

GIRLS SCHOOL ANNUAL CAMP HANTESA TRIP

Our annual Girls School trip to Camp Hantesa is scheduled for Thursday–Saturday, September 14–16. The girls were given permission slips and packing lists this week. Please sign your child’s permission slip and send it back to school with the $115 fee, made payable to Maharishi School. Thank you.

DRIVER'S EDUCATION

Our School provides a driver's education course twice a year. The course typically runs for 11 weeks. Each student is required to complete 6 hours of behind-the-wheel time and 30 hours of classroom time.

The cost of the course is $325 ($300 for faculty/staff).  Students must have a valid driver's permit before the first class. There is a limit of 21 students.

Mr. Robert Kinney will teach the fall class that begins on Sunday, September 10. Classroom hours will be 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Behind-the-wheel hours will be scheduled during the weekend and after school between 4:00-8:00 p.m. The exact schedule for driving will be determined the first day of class.

Please contact Jan Koelblinger in the Administration Office, 472-9400 ext. 1157, to add your child’s name to the list.

PLANNING AHEAD

Students in 10th grade will be taking the PLAN test, a preparation for the ACT, while students in 11th grade will be taking the PSAT test, a preparation for the SAT on Wednesday morning, October 18. There are no fees for these tests. Further details will be available as the date approaches.

Best Wishes,

Laurie Baumann and Alan Colby
