“All of Ayurveda can be summed up in one word: you have a choice. The response of the world always depends on us. How we are. Whatever seems positive depends on us. Whatever seems negative depends on us. You choose everything in your life. You choose everything in your life. You choose everything in your life. You choose everything in your life." --Maharishi, Summer 1986

Dear Parents,

PROGRAM IN THE HALL OF BLISS AND BREAKFAST

Program in the Hall of Bliss has started off well and the students are enjoying the settled atmosphere. If your child needs a backjack, they are sold in the M.U.M. Bookstore ($27.50).

Please make sure that your child's name is on any belongings that he/she brings to the Hall of Bliss.

A few breakfast items are sold at School between program and first period. These include oatmeal, muffins, apple sauce, granola bars, tea, milk, and juice. Wherever possible, ingredients are organic. All items are non-GMO.

Parents may send a weekly or monthly amount for your child to turn in to the breakfast supervisor, so that he/she can have access to a credit line.

Breakfast for the boys is sold in Clark Auditorium, and for the girls in room 306.

FALL BIKING/CAMPING FUNDRAISER

Each year in the fall students at Maharishi School participate in one of our most enjoyable fundraisers of the year.

The Lower School students raise sponsorship for riding in the Bike Fest and the older students raise sponsorship for cycling, walking, or doing some other physical activity.

This year the Middle and Upper School girls will have a Bike-a-thon on Friday, October 13, at 1:00 p.m. Students will be riding bikes or walking from the School to Chautauqua Park and back. Details will be sent out closer to the event.

The Middle and Upper School boys will be going on an overnight camping trip early in October. They will raise sponsorship for cycling, hiking, and canoeing on this trip.

Students are asked to raise sponsorship for their exercise miles. This is a great opportunity for each family to reach your fundraising goal right at the start of the school year.

Please help your child with phone calls, letters, and e-mails to inspire sponsorship.

The School is offering the following incentives to students to inspire them to raise sponsorship:

1st place: The student who brings in the most funds for Maharishi School wins a $200 shopping spree at Coral Ridge Mall.

2nd place: $100 shopping spree at Coral Ridge Mall.

3rd place: $50 shopping spree at Coral Ridge Mall.

Any student who individually brings in $3,000 or more will receive a gift certificate to Best Buy. (Only one incentive prize per student.)

Any class who raises over $4,000 gets dinner at Revelations, India Café, or Los Portales.

GIRLS SCHOOL CAMP HANTESA TRIP THIS WEEK

The girls will be leaving at 8:15 a.m. sharp on Thursday morning. Please be sure that your daughter has everything on the packing list. She should also bring a sack lunch for Thursday and a flashlight, which was not included on the packing list.

SPORTS NEWS

Volleyball and soccer seasons are well under way. We have a full schedule from Junior High to Varsity. Come pick up a poster at the Athletic Department, so you can support the Pioneers.

The Varsity soccer team got off to a great start last Friday with an extremely entertaining and exciting game against the defending state runner up, Holy Trinity. The Pioneers lost by just one goal, 3-2.

The next game for Varsity girls Volleyball is Saturday, Sept. 9 at Notre Dame.

DRIVER'S EDUCATION CLASS STARTS THIS SUNDAY

If your child signed up for the driver's education class, he/she should come to room 221 in the Boys School by 9:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, September 10.

REQUEST FOR EXCUSED ABSENCES

If you are planning a family trip that will necessitate your son or daughter missing school, please be sure to fill out a Request for Excused Absence form.

We encourage families to take their trips during scheduled school vacations.

In the event of a college visit or special family occasion, the absence needs to be pre-approved at least 5 days prior to the absence. This allows teachers to plan ahead and enables your child to get all his/her assignments.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

* There will be no newsletter on Friday, September 15. The next newsletter will be sent out on Friday, September 22.

* If your child drives a car to school, please be sure he/she registers the car on campus. Forms are available from the Girls School or Boys School offices.

M.U.M. will start towing unregistered cars this week.

Best Wishes,

Laurie Baumann and Alan Colby
Girls School and Boys School Principals
