“We are not responding to this instant if we are judging any aspect of it. The ego looks for what to criticize. This always involves comparing with the past. But love looks upon the world peacefully and accepts. The ego searches for shortcomings and weaknesses. Love watches for any sign of strength. It sees how far each one has come and not how far he has to go. How simple it is to love, and exhausting it is always to find fault, for every time we see a fault we think something needs to be done about it. Love knows that nothing is ever needed but more love. It is what we all do with our hearts that affects others most deeply. It is not the movements of our body or the words within our mind that transmits love. We love from heart to heart.”
~Maharishi, Mahesh Yogi

Dear Parents,

CIC COURSES STARTING

There is a lot of excitement at Maharishi School these days about the CIC courses that are starting soon. It is likely that there will be three CIC in-center courses by December, each followed by a flying block.

Many of our Upper School students and several 9th graders are applying for these courses. The students are inspired by the possibility of being a part of Maharishi’s focus to swell the numbers in the Golden Domes and are appreciative of the tremendous scholarship opportunity currently being offered.

FALL BIKING/CAMPING FUNDRAISER

We would like to remind parents of how important the fall biking/camping fundraiser is for Maharishi School. The School depends on these much-needed funds to meet the budget each year.

This fundraiser also offers parents a wonderful opportunity to realise a good deal of their fundraising goal for the year. All it takes is one evening of focus: think with your child of who he/she can approach for sponsorship, help him/her send out an e-mail or make phone calls, and you’d be surprised at how willingly people support Maharishi School if they’re asked.

This year the Middle and Upper School girls will have a Bike-a-thon on Friday, October 13, at 1:00 p.m. They will be riding bikes or walking from the School to Chautauqua Park and back.

The Middle and Upper School boys will be going on overnight camping trips, and they will raise sponsorship for cycling, hiking, and canoeing on these trips.

The Upper School boys’ trip will be from Wednesday, October 4 – Saturday, October 7. Dates of the Middle School boys’ trip will be announced soon.

NEW  PARENTS’ TEA

Is your child new to Maharishi School? On Thursday, September 28, parents of students new to the School are warmly invited to join us in the parlor at 10:30 a.m. for a welcome reception.

SPORTS NEWS

The girls’ Varsity volleyball team had their first home game of the season, and sent the fans home happy by defeating arch rival, Cardinal.

Both the Fresh/Soph and JV teams are also doing well with recent victories over Cardinal and Danville. The 7th and 8th grade teams also both enjoyed great victories last week.

This Saturday, September 23, is the Superconference volleyball tournament in Mediapolis.

The 7th and 8th grade boys’ soccer team won an exciting game against Central Lee last week. Towards the end of the game Wesley Foltz scored on a breakaway to secure a 1-0 victory.

The boys’ Varsity soccer team is playing in a big tournament this weekend. On Friday they play at home and on Saturday at Cono Christian.

FREE MONEY FOR MAHARISHI SCHOOL FROM YOUR COMPUTER

There are two websites that offer effortless ways of getting money for Maharishi School:

1) www.Schoolpop.com: Here is a wonderful way to turn your on-line purchases at your favorite stores into credit for your child’s fundraising account. Simply log on to www.Schoolpop.com and register to take advantage of their program.

Participating merchants include JC Penney, Lands’ End, Nordstrom, The Gap, LL Bean, Apple, and many others who will donate a percentage of your on-line, in-store, and catalogue purchases to Maharishi School.

Be sure to call the Development Office (472-0094) with your total if you want to get credit for your purchases through Schoolpop.com,

2) GoodSearch: The search engine “GoodSearch” (powered by Yahoo) earns a percent for Maharishi School each time it is used for searching the Internet.

Make www.goodsearch.com your home page, and use it for all your internet searches. Two searches a day by 100 users will raise $730 a year for our School.
