Dear Parents,

The Middle and Upper School boys are currently on their fundraiser camping trip. The girls’ bike-a-thon is this coming Friday, October 13. Please try to commit at least an hour this weekend to help your child make phone calls and/or send out e-mails in order to get more sponsorship. This is such an easy way to fulfill your fundraising requirement for the rest of the year.

Picture Day will be on Tuesday, October 17 (not on October 18, as stated in the school calendar.) Students will be bringing home Lifetouch order forms this coming week so that you can decide which package you want to order.

On Picture Day, students should bring the order form and money to school.

There will be a meeting for parents of seniors on Wednesday evening, October 11, in the Henry Ogden Clark Auditorium. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the senior trip and related fundraising. The meeting will start promptly at 8:00 p.m., so please arrive a few minutes early.

Each year 10th graders at Maharishi School take the PLAN test (the preparatory exam for the ACT), and 11th graders take the PSAT (the preliminary SAT).

The date of the PSAT is set by the College Board. It is taken on the same day by all participating students nationwide. This year, the PSAT will be on Wednesday morning, October 18.

We originally scheduled the PLAN for the same date, but are changing the date because some students will be on the CIC flying block. We will inform 10th grade parents of the new date for the PLAN test when it is set.

The Varsity soccer boys continue their outstanding play with two solid victories this week, 2-1 over Cono Christian, and 2-0 over Scattergood.

In the Cono Christian game, Coach Higgins put Freshman Jay Stewart into the game, and told him that he was only in for a minute unless he scored a goal. Jay promptly notched the winning goal.

October 3 was a big day for the Pioneer sports program, as all of our teams won games that day. The Varsity and Junior High soccer teams won their games, and all three high school volleyball teams (Fresh/Soph, JV, and Varsity) had exciting wins over the Harmony Rockets.

Next week we have two volleyball home games: Tuesday vs. New London and Thursday vs. IMS

Best Wishes,

Laurie Baumann and Alan Colby
